The winner of yesterday’s drawing is…
Angie Goodloe, who commented,
I think it would be wonderful! I have 2 babies (2 and under)- so basically I have been nursing for the past 2 years or so. I have not traveled much, but when the kids get a little older you may see me at a writers conference!
Congratulations Angie! Thank-you Christina! And thank you to everyone who played along yesterday. It was a lot of fun hosting my first blog open-house! If you didn’t win, don’t worry – you can keep playing! Just go to the Writer Mama Riffs to find out where Christina, and the next installment of the Writer Mama story, will be today!

Thanks so much for hostessing, Erin. I enjoyed everyone’s comments.
My daughter was three the first time I slipped away to a conference for a weekend. I commuted each day 20-30 minutes to be home at night. Now that my daughter is a little older, I usually stay overnight and call it a “mommy vacation” because half the fun is connecting with fellow writers at the end of the day!
I’ll be in NYC for the Writer’s Digest/BEA Conference, a one day conference on Wednesday, May 27th, if anyone can make it. :)
And hey, Gay, Ann Hood was also my mentor at Breadloaf (a million years ago when my writing was embarrassing)! Small world.
I hope everyone will find a way, come heck or high water, to get to a writers conference this year. Don’t forget that you can often volunteer in exchange for attendance.
