living our dreams

it’s about peace

by eringoodman on January 26, 2012

in events, lily's view, living our dreams, peace

If you visit this space regularly you know that on Thursdays I usually turn the blogging reins over to my daughter Lily.

This week, however, as I settle back in from Yoga4Classrooms training and count down to The 10-Day Family Re-Charge (a.k.a. my first online program!!), I was planning to tell my sweet girl that I needed to hold off on sharing her art this week.

And then Lily showed me what she had created.

I’m pretty sure I gasped a little as she handed it to me.

As I write this there are over 100 people — parents, aunties and grandparents — signed up to spend the first part of February Re-Charging with their families.

And I’m finding myself totally in awe of this whole process, which less than a month ago was just a “Wouldn’t it be nice…” idea dancing around in my heart, as I receive registrations from people as far away as Australia and New Zealand.

Lily’s drawing reminded me just how connected we all are and what this work I am called to do is all about.

And so, without further ado, I present to you the Contributor Line-up for The 10-Day Family Re-Charge, which begins February 4.

Podcast

I am so excited to share this month’s Behind the Blog podcast with you.

And of course a little nervous (which is why I stopped yesterday to take a breath, give myself a little pep talk and snap this self portrait).

Nicola and I had such fun recording it (our first time talking on the phone together) and when I went back in to edit, I barely needed to touch a thing. It all flowed together so nicely.

Nicola is beautiful in every way and I loved creating this show with her.

Behind the Blog :: Episode Three

We’re chatting about when we might meet up on facebook for some post-podcast connection. It won’t be this weekend (see below) but sometime soon.

How are you all feeling about these little facebook chats? Do you like them?

It’s taking some getting used to for me, but I’m really enjoying the positive conversation and connections that are being made (and I am learning SO much from all of you)!!

PTO

I’ve spent the last few weeks organizing my first PTO event at Lily’s school. (And getting to know this copier quite well.)

Oh my goodness. I had NO idea what was involved in organizing all these lovely family events that we attend throughout the school year. I think I’ve created more spreadsheets in the past two weeks than I have in my entire 37 1/2 years.

On a very positive note, I have been joyfully overwhelmed by the generosity of the small (and large) businesses and families in our community. Even in tough economic times, our calls for donations have been met with much kindness and enthusiasm.

Away I go

I’m hitting the road (ummm…very soon, really need to start packing).

Heading back to New Hampshire this weekend for my next round of Yoga 4 Classrooms training.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I am loving this experience of taking the practice of yoga, which I have been studying in various forms for the past 10 years, and translating it into a language that it easy for students to understand and practical to use in today’s public school classrooms.

Very (very!!) excited for this next step in my yoga teaching journey.

I’ll be back next week to share a peek at some of the wonderful folks who will be contributing to the 10-Day Family Re-Charge, which begins on Saturday Feb. 4 (not Wednesday as I wrote in my welcome letter – oops!).

Hope you have a great weekend.

Peace, friends.

Wow. That was fun.

Thank you again to Tara Wagner (and Justin Wagner).

And to all the amazing people who stopped by last night — and are continuing to stop by and share thoughts.

All threads are open, so come on by — and join in if you are inspired.

As for me, I will be blissfully unplugged for the rest of today.

(Tomorrow I start tackling my out of control in-box.)

the day(s) before

by eringoodman on December 7, 2011

in energy management, living our dreams

I am starting to get more comfortable with this space.

The days leading up to the big day.
The days when my energy bounces off the walls like a pin ball.

Days when I can barely answer a simple question,
let alone come up with a plan for dinner.

I’m learning to make space -

for butterflies.
and fears.
and doubts.

To wrap myself in a cocoon of quiet when I need to be alone.
To reach out and ask for support when I need to be anything but alone.

To savor the grounding tasks of daily life.
Serving breakfast. Making lunches. Helping with homework.
Feeding the dog. Collecting the eggs.
Meeting the bus.

To surrender (peacefully) to take-out food and computer games,
and Yes, you can order hot lunch.

To breathe. And trust.

tar – star – far

by eringoodman on December 1, 2011

in announcements, behind the blog, living our dreams

I know how to pronounce Tara Wagner’s first name.

(Tara is pronounced like Star…but without the “S” and with an “uh” at the end. Go ahead. Sound it out. :) )

~ The Organic Sister

I also know that when I am recording a call, it is very easy for my mind to go blank and forget a very simple thing like how to pronounce someone’s name.

So I make myself notes.

I also usually have a loose outline of what I’d like to talk about.

But sometimes, as was the case with Tara (and with Hannah), I just let the conversation flow where it wants to go.

And oh the places we go.

Come on over to my podcast page for a little sneak peek at listen to one of the places this free-flowing conversation will explore as I get ready for the release of my second show — one week from today, on Thursday, December 8.

There are also some great new sponsors for you to meet.

And some fantastic profiles — and a couple of great special offers — from my November sponsors.

I also set up a couple of things so that if you like the show (which I’m guessing from all the amazingly supportive messages and e-mails I received in the past moth, you kinda do ;-) you can now offer your support by displaying a Behind the Blog button on your own site and / or donating through Paypal to support the show.

(Thank you!!! Thank you!!!)

Lots of good stuff going on over there so come on over and check it out!
